Our advice to anyone trying to take the ORE exam is to study for 4-8 hrs a day for at least 4-6 months without child/home/work distractions.

. Pink Book (Oxford handbook of clinical dentistry)

. Blue book (Oxford handbook of applied dental sciences)

. churchills pocketbook of clinical dentistry.

. Medical problems in dentistry ( strongly recommend the latest edition) scully-

- Chap 2 perioperative care table 2.1 (ASA and PARS scale), 2.5 (most common drug interactions and their significance in oral health care), Local anethesia and analgesia (do complete)

- chap 3-14 chap 16 (hypersensitivity, dental materials, sjogrens, SLE) chap 17 (do hepatitis) chap 21 (combine it with oral patho), chap 22 (osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis), chap 25 (do cranial nerves and lesions )

- chap 27 (do only imporatnt topics, like asthma copd) chap 28 (do alcohol), chap 30 ( read about syphilis combine with oral patho), chal 31-32 (must read, look at pictures carefully), chap 34 (cleft lip and palate), chap 35 (read trigeminal and glossophageal combine with oral patho), chap 44 (if you cant read the whole of it just do the main drug intractions) , chap 47, chap 50 (only main topics)

. hypersensitivity do from wikipedia(along with blue book, medical problems in dentistry)

. pharmacolgy (seymour) do LA from there (combine with scully, pinkbook, and british national formullary)

. do analgesics, antibiotics, mechanism of action, uses and drug interactions, combine wikipedia (esp last tables after refrences, scully, pinkbook)-

. oral pathology - cawson (combine with pinkbook and medical problems in dentistry -scully)

. oral histolgy (bluebook combine with)

. Clinical problem solving in dentistry (high caries rate, multilocular radiolucency, unpleasent surprise,)

. Anatomy from BD Churasia/ anatomy for dental students Johnson and moore/ blue book.

-do nerve supply, boood supply, clinical anatomy, timing of embryogenesis, foramens, lymph drainage, muscle origin and instertion)

. physiology vandersherman (combine with youtube videos of "hiperhighs" , www.o2demand. com videos, bluebook tables), do biochemistry from here as well (do glycolysis and krebs cycle, vitamines from blue book)

. radiology ( recommend bda advice sheets, churchill pocketbook of clinical dentistry,eric waites only diagrams and techniques)

. oral boilogy berkoveitz/ tencate and blue book.

. Master Dentistry 1 and 2 (Orthodontics is difficult, you can study from your undergraduate books)

. BDA advice sheets

1. Data protection

2. Infection Control in dentistry

3. Health and saftely laws for dental students

4. Radiation dentistry

5. prescribing antibiotics ( not much useful but still read it)

6. Ethics in dentistry

. Resus guidelines (along with chap 47 Emergencies - medical problems in dentistry- scully)

. do question and time yourself, sit for 3 hours and do 150 questions, I will recommend 1000 questions if you have never done before sit down and do it.

. also strongly recommend www.pastest. com, you can find a friend who can pool in with you and you can share the exam time with them.

. I liked to study with study partners, if you can find someone who matches your frequency you would really enjoy studying.
